Competition T&C's

COMPETITION PERIOD: You may enter the COMPETITION between 9:00 am on Monday 23 January, 2012 and 8:50 am on Monday 5 March, 2012 (“Competition Period”).

 

JUDGING CRITERIA:

Judging Criteria ("Judging Criteria") is as follows:

Originality and Creativity - 30%

Content and Insight - 30%

Overall Appeal - 40%

 

Submissions must be less than one minute long. Competitors are only allowed to submit one question per week. They can either be posted through 1) our (enter landing page URL-possibly a shortener of WWYAB.gt etc) or through 2) or the GrantThorntonRecruitmentUK Facebook wall. Each week the competition runs from 9 am Monday morning for 7 days through to 8.50am on the  following Monday morning. The Competition runs from 9 AM Monday 23 January until 9 AM Monday 5 March. The most liked video from each week, plus the four next highest ranked videos from the competition overall will be shortlisted. Shortlisted videos will be judged by a panel from Grant Thornton and winners will be announced Monday 19th March. Winners will be announced and informed via Facebook. Prizes must be claimed by Friday 6th April. Competition entrants must be 18 or over as of the 23.1.2012

The Runner up prize will be an iPad2, and a dedicated careers coach for 12months. The Winner's prize will be the runner up prize, plus two tickets to the Barclay Wireless festival in Hyde Park including travel to London from any UK mainland destination (excluding Northern Ireland), an overnight stay at 4* hotel in London, and dinner with a Grant Thornton Partner and trainees at the National Café, at the National Gallery.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1) The person uploading the Submission will be deemed the entrant (“Entrant”). The Entrant is the one (1) person who owns the email address associated with the Competition. Only individuals can enter into the competition.  There is a limit of one (1) Finalist Prize per person.

Each Submission must comply with the Web Site Terms of Service, as well as these Official Rules of Grant Thornton UK LLP ("the Company").

Each Submission must be the original work of the Entrant produced for this Competition; it may not have been entered in or won previous competitions or awards; it may not have been published previously in any medium; it must not infringe any party’s intellectual property or other rights; it must be suitable for display and publication on national television (e.g. may not be obscene or indecent, including but not limited to nudity or profanity); it must not contain obscene or pornographic material, it must not contain defamatory statements (including but not limited to words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic group), it must not include threats to any person, place, business, group or world peace, it must not invade privacy or other rights of any person, firm or entity, and it must not in any other way violate applicable laws and regulations or network standards.

Each Submission must not feature distilled spirits, tobacco products (including cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco) contraceptives, feminine hygiene products, fireworks, firearms and ammunitions, prescription drugs, illegal drugs and related drug paraphernalia, nutritional supplements, lotteries and gambling (including horse or dog racing and products or services related to gambling).

Each Submission must not utilize live animals unless the Entrant has obtained the consent of the animal’s owner and an affidavit from the animal owner or wrangler that the animal was not harmed in the making of the commercial. Entrants are encouraged to contact the local Humane Society prior to filming the Submission to verify appropriate animal safeguards on set.

Each Submission must not contain any copyrighted works (other than as owned by the Entrant). You may not include any music. Use of any unauthorized music may result in disqualification of Submission, in the Company's  sole discretion.

2) All Submissions will be reviewed for content before being judged; however, such review does not relieve Entrant from responsibility for compliance with all of the Terms of Service and these Official Rules. Submissions that do not comply in all material respects with the Terms of Services or these Official Rules or that otherwise contain prohibited, or inappropriate content as determined by the Company, in its sole discretion, will be disqualified and will not be published or considered for prizes. The Company makes the final determination as to which Submissions are eligible to take part in this Competition and be considered for a Finalist Prize. Certain Submissions may be featured from time to time on the Web Site during the Competition Period and/or in the Company's social media pages and channels, in the Company's sole discretion; being selected as a featured Submission is unrelated to the Judging Criteria and does not guarantee selection as a Finalist in the Competition.

3) By entering this Competition and uploading your Submission, you irrevocably grant to the Company and their agents the unconditional and perpetual right to post, display, publish, use, adapt, edit and/or modify such Submission in any way, in any and all media, for any purpose, without limitation, and without consideration to you. Finalists agree to irrevocably assign and transfer to the Company any and all rights, title and interest in the Submission, including, without limitation, all copyrights and waive all moral rights in the Submission. All Competition Entrants further agree to release and indemnify and hold harmless the Company and the Competition Parties from any and all claims that any commercial, advertising, presentation, Web content or any other material subsequently produced, presented, and/or prepared by or on behalf of the Company or infringe on the rights of Entrant’s work as contained in any Submission.

4) Entrants agree that the Company has the sole right to decide all matters and disputes arising from this Competition and that all decisions of the Competition are final and binding. Finalists, by acceptance of the Finalist Prize, agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless the Company and Competition Parties, as well as each of their respective parent and affiliated companies, and each of their employees, representatives, contractors, and advertisers from any and all liability, loss, damage, cost or claim related to any allegation regarding the acceptance or use of their prize, including but not limited to the airing of the commercial Submission.

5) GENERAL CONDITIONS: All Entrants must have a e-mail address. No substitution of prize is offered, except at the sole discretion of the Company. Prizes are non-transferable. Unclaimed prizes will not be awarded. If a prize, or any portion thereof, cannot be awarded for any reason, the Company reserves the right to substitute the prize with another prize of equal or greater value. Travel to London will also be at the discretion of the company. If for any reason the Competition is not capable of running as planned, including without limitation, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Competition, the Company reserves the right, at its sole discretion to cancel, modify or terminate the Competition. Further, the Company reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual deemed to be (a) tampering or attempting to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Competition or any Grant Thornton UK LLP-related Web Site; (b) violating the Official Rules; (c) violating the Web Site terms of service, conditions of use and/or applicable general rules or guidelines; or (d) acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. This Company is offered only in the United Kingdom.

6) LEGAL WARNING: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN INDIVIDUAL, WHETHER OR NOT AN ENTRANT, TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE, DESTROY, TAMPER OR VANDALIZE THIS WEB SITE OR INTERFERE WITH THE OPERATION OF THE COMPETITION IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND THE COMPANY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES AND DILIGENTLY PURSUE ALL REMEDIES AGAINST ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

7) WINNER NOTIFICATION: Finalists will be notified by phone and/or email within six (6) weeks of the end of the Competition Period. The Company reserves the right, to require a potential Finalist to submit to a confidential background check to confirm eligibility and help ensure that the use of any such person in advertising or publicity for the Competition will not bring the Company into public disrepute, contempt, scandal or ridicule or reflect unfavourably on the Competition as determined by the Company, in its sole discretion. For travel portion of Finalist Prize: Finalists' Guests, who must be 18 or older as of 1.7.2012 may also be required to complete and sign a Liability Release prior to traveling.

8) Any waiver of any obligation hereunder by the Company does not constitute a general waiver of any obligation to Entrants. By accepting a prize, Finalist agrees, and agrees in writing if requested, then the Finalist agrees to irrevocably assign and transfer to the company all of his/her right, title and interest in and to his/her Submission, if any, including all but not limited to all copyright and trademark rights which he or she may have, in the United Kingdom and worldwide, therein, for consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged. Finalists hereby waive in favour of the Company, all rights of “Droit Moral” or “Moral Rights of Authors” or any similar rights or principles of law that Finalist may now or later have to his/her Submission. The Company reserves the right to alter, change or modify a winning Submission, in its sole discretion. Upon request of the Company, Finalist shall execute and deliver such additional instrument of assignment, as may be solely deemed by the Company, reasonably necessary to establish the ownership of record of the right, title and interest in and to the Submission and of the copyrights transferred and “Moral Rights of Authors” waived under these Official Rules. Should the Company fail to request the said assignment as stated, that shall not be deemed a waiver of the Company’s rights and the Company may at a later time request the assignment.

9) LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY AND RELEASE: No liability or responsibility is assumed by the Company resulting from any user's participation in or attempt to participate in the Competition or ability or inability to upload or download any information in connection with participating in the Competition. No responsibility or liability is assumed by the Company for technical problems or technical malfunction arising in connection with any of the following occurrences which may affect the operation of the Competition: hardware or software errors; faulty computer, telephone, cable, satellite, network, electronic, wireless or Internet connectivity or other online communication problems; errors or limitations of any Internet service providers, servers, hosts or providers; garbled, jumbled or faulty data transmissions; failure of any e-mail transmissions to be sent or received; lost, late, delayed or intercepted e-mail transmissions; inaccessibility of the Web Site in whole or in part for any reason; traffic congestion on the Internet or the Web Site; unauthorised human or non-human intervention of the operation of the Competition, including without limitation, unauthorised tampering, hacking, theft, virus, bugs, worms; or destruction of any aspect of the Competition, or loss, miscount, misdirection, inaccessibility or unavailability of an email account used in connection with the Competition. The Company is not responsible for any typographical errors in the announcement of prizes or these Official Rules, or any inaccurate or incorrect data contained on the Web Site. Use of Web Site is at user’s own risk. The Company is not responsible for any personal injury or property damage or losses of any kind which may be sustained to user's or any other person's computer equipment resulting from participation in the Competition, use of the Web Site or the download of any information from the Web Site. By participating in the Competition, the Entrant releases the Company from any and all claims, damages or liabilities arising from or relating to such Entrant’s participation in the Competition. By accepting a prize in the Competition, winners agree that the Company shall not be liable for any loss or injury resulting from participation in the Competition, acceptance or use of any prize, or any travel related thereto. The Company is not liable in the event that any portion of the Competition or prize is cancelled due to weather, fire, strike, acts of war or terrorism, or any other condition beyond their control (a “Force Majeure Event”). Should a Force Majeure Event occur, the Company may, but is not obligated to, exercise commercially reasonable efforts to reorganise the prize at another time or make a reasonable substitution in its sole discretion.

10) DATA PROTECTION: Any personal information provided by the entrants, including as part of the registration and sign-in process, will be used by the Company for the purposes of the competition: to enable it to contact the entrant, process the entries, award the prizes, announce the winners, promote and advertise the Competition or as otherwise set out in these Terms and Conditions.

Your email address will be used for the purpose of registering you to receive updates regarding the Grant Thornton Business Advice Challenge 2012 which may include information that we think may be of interest to you.

The information that you provide, including the images of you and other individuals in any videos (who must have given you permission to share the video and their details with Grant Thornton), will be used to administer and publicise this Competition and its winners, and will be shared with third parties for these purposes. Certain details will also be made available on the Competition website where they will be judged by members of the public.

Use of the Grant Thornton site is subject to the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and other policies available on the Grant Thornton site.
